Trips & Adventures

Outdoor Adventures provides a variety of outdoor trips, from day trips/clinics to weekend and week adventures, to the University of Utah community. Participants can expect to see activities such as rock climbing, canyoneering, mountain biking, backpacking, hiking, cross-country skiing, backcountry touring, ice climbing, whitewater rafting/kayaking, flatwater trips such as canoeing or SUPing, and much more. The trip leaders are in constant training to provide a safe and positive learning environment in which participants can develop their outdoor skills. Trips are only available for students.

Summer 2026 Trips

Registration for Outdoor Adventure Summer Trips Opens Friday, May 1st.
Students not enrolled in Summer Semester courses must purchase a FREE Summer Outdoor Adventure Trips Membership* prior to trip registration. Trips over the summer session are also open to faculty and staff of the university. 
*Does not grant access to the building.

Tripduring the semester and over fall, winter, and spring breaks are for University of Utah students only. Trips over the summer session are also open to faculty and staff of the university. 

Please register online

Trip costs include all the food, transportation, and group gear needed to participate in a trip. Group gear includes rafts, tents, climbing gear, etc. Personal gear, such as water bottles, clothing, sunscreen, hiking boots, etc., are the responsibility of the participant. For question regarding trip gear please call 801-581-8516. 

University of Utah policies prohibit alcohol, controlled substances, and firearms. These items are not permitted on any OA Adventure. Participants are not required to have health insurance, but it is strongly encouraged.

THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH SEEKS TO PROVIDE EQUAL ACCESS TO IT’S PROGRAMS, SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES TO PEOPLE OF ALL ABILITIES

Trip registrations canceled more than a month before the start date of the trip are eligible for a refund of up to 90% of the trip fee. No full refunds will be available for individual cancellations.

Trip registrations canceled more than a week before the trip’s PRE-TRIP MEETING are eligible for a refund up to 75% of the trip fee. Note: Pre-trip meetings typically take place the Monday before the trip departs. Official pre-trip meeting dates and times are included on the website description page of each trip.

Trip registrations canceled after the date immediately above are not eligible for a refund.

Trip registrants who do not attend their pre-trip meeting without contacting us via email will be removed from the trip and will not receive a refund. If the trip is canceled by Outdoor Adventures due to low enrollment or weather, all registered participants will be eligible for a full refund.

There are no refunds for clinic registrations. To cancel your registration and initiate the refund process, please submit a refund request form, and we will contact you regarding next steps. For questions regarding the trips refund policy, please email us at OutdoorAdventures@utah.edu
