Get in on Esports now

esportsYou may be bored during these COVID-19 quarantine times, but there are still things you can do to be competitive and involved in the University of Utah community. One of those activities is esports! There are multiple offerings and ways you can play esports, whether you’re playing a campaign alone or online with your friends, esports are a way to stay home and stay safe.

Intramural Sports is currently offering a couple ways to be involved and to win a IM Sports Champ shirt in the process. All you have to do to get started is join any of these leagues: Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, Rocket League. Or join these sport games: FIFA 20, NBA 2K29
and Madden 20. To determine the champ shirt winners for Fortnite
and War Zone, players will submit their top 5 ranked games with a screen shot of their placement in the match to IM Sports admin staff and a point value will be given those placements. The players with the top 3 point values will be crowned the winners! Check out what’s going on at https://www.imleagues.com/utah.

Beyond the competition, IM Sports has created a community database on IMLeagues for Xbox and PlayStation for the U of U community to find others to play with or against, in their favorite games.

If you didn’t know, the U has a varsity esports team that competes in numerous games. You can see their team, the games they are playing and watch live or replays of their matches on their website (https://games.utah.edu/) or on social media (https://www.facebook.com/EAEUofU/ and https://www.twitch.tv/universityofutahesports/).

Have fun and stay safe out there!
