Tips for playing esports
Madden 20
- Run Pass Option (RPO): RPO is in Madden 20 for the first time and now is your time to master this concept. The best way to master the RPO is to
head to the Skills Trainer under the Exhibition menu and look for the Run Concepts
playbook. There are also three new drills that you can use to familiarize yourself
with and master the RPO.
- Passing tips
- Settle your feet at a QB. Make sure they are planted when you are throwing, including deep bombs and close bullet passes. Along with that, get comfortable in the pocket, this allows you to set your feet easily. Find your pocket presence.
- Something new in Madden 20 is the block and release. Matters how to use your Tight Ends blocking and catching abilities to rule defenses.
- Learn how to scramble with your QB! Madden now lets you turn your QB into a running back with the same running skills and options. To scramble, you’ll need to press L2/LT when your QB gets the ball and they turn into a ball carrier. You can still scramble by with the R2/RT to sprint away but using L2/LT allows this to happen quicker and activates the RB abilities for your QB. One thing to note is QBs have a higher rate/chance of fumbling the ball, so be careful. You can also press L2/LT again to turning into a thrower again, as long as you’re behind the line of scrimmage.
- Running Tips
- Don’t spam sprint! Sprinting burns your stamina and can lead overrunning your blockers. Save your sprint till you are in open field or if you need to beat that one last defender.
- Protect the football. You can use R1/RB to cover the ball and help prevent fumbling. This does slow you speed down, increasing the likelihood you will be tackled. Protecting the ball is great for when you need to pick up a few important yards and keep the drive moving without any turnovers, like when you're killing the clock or when your opponent is desperate for another offensive possession.
- Know your running backs. If you have a bruising back like Derrick Henry, using his
truck ability or stiff-arm may be a wise choice, while the shiftier maneuvers like
juking and spinning should be left to more agile backs like Alvin Kamara. If a player doesn't have a skill somewhere in the mid-80s at least, it's not really part
of their toolset, so play to their strengths instead of their weaknesses.
NBA 2K20
- Don’t forget about 2KU
- There is no replacement for practice. NBA 2K20's 2KU mode is a fun, low-risk way to get better at your game. The main tutorial feature runs you through dozens of controls for attacking, shooting, defending and free throws, which is great but if you prefer less guidance, 2KU also lets you play in a scrimmage or just free style on the court. 2KU is one of the most comprehensive tutorials in sports video games, and a must do for new players.
- Use sprint sparingly
- It can be tempting to sprint back and forth down the court. However, constant sprinting affects your players for the entirety of the game, so use the button too much in the first two quarters and you will suffer for it in the crucial final moments. Getting back to defend doesn’t need you to sprint unless the opposition goes on a speedy counter. Take your time and keep an eye on your marker so you know where to head. When attacking the rim, be patient when executing a set play, or pass the ball around to look for an opening. Essentially, strategies without excessively increasing your player’s fatigue.
- Stick to a man while defending
- A familiar habit whilst playing NBA 2K20 is switching to the teammate closest to the opposing player who’s handling the ball, but the improved AI allows you to trust your teammates and lets you focus on the player you’re marking. Using L2/LT to keep close forces him to remain in a corner of your half court, or draws him out of position – often breaking up an opponent’s approach in the process. When faced with the ball handler, L2/LT applies pressure. If they’re outside the D, don’t get too close or they’ll drive past you if there’s a screen in play. Certain dribblers require less attention, but if you’re facing a Kyrie Irving, pay close attention to the arrow underneath him. Moving in the direction he’s leaning prevents a break towards the rim, usually forcing a pass.
- Use block shot sparingly
- Unless you have mastered the timing, resist the urge to press the contest shot button (Y/triangle). Why? Because if the shooter fakes his shot or takes another step before shooting,
then you've either committed a foul or completely taken your defender out of the game.
Instead, hold the right analog stick up to raise your hands. This will put pressure
on the shooter but without the added risk.

Call of Duty: Warzone
- If you cut your chute while high above the ground, there’s a few-second gap where you’re able to shoot with your starting pistol. This means it’s often better to fall slightly above those around you, so you can harass them into landing prematurely, or even kill them.
- As long as you haven’t cut your chute during the drop, your chute will auto-deploy shortly before hitting the ground. But if you have cut your chute, this auto-deploy won’t happen, so you’ll have to remember to deploy manually to avoid a quick and miserable death.
- The color of a weapon is determined by how many of its attachment slots are filled. This means a grey MP7 will hit every bit as hard as a gold MP7, but it may lack attachments that turn it into a better or easier to use weapon.
- Some of the top-tier weapons in Warzone are, in no order: HDR, AX-50, Aug, MP5, MP7, M13, Oden, M4A1, Grau, and FAL.
- The most used perks in warzone include: High Alert, Cold-Blooded, Ghost, Overkill and Spotter.
- In the Settings for Warzone you can switch your minimap from the default circle to a square. This is a very good idea, because it means the minimap shows more of your surroundings, giving you a slight advantage over circular-minimap users.
- In solos, one of the best weapon combos is an AX-50 sniper rifle and Oden assault rifle.
