Snow Equipment

Salt Lake City has some of the best access to winter recreation in the nation. With four major resorts in reach with an easy 45 minute drive from the university and countless more within 1 1/2 hours, the surrounding Wasatch Mountains provide an epic playgroud for skiers and snowboarders. Outdoor Adventures rents all of the necessary gear to get you up in the mountains including alpine and telemark skis, snowboard, snow bibs, jackets, and helmets. If resort skiing isn't your style, not to worry, we also carry equipment for backcountry adventures. This includes alpine touring skis, splitboards, avalanche beacons, shovels, probes, XC skis, skate skis, snowshoes, gear sleds, gaiters, and NEOS.

Come by and pick up some gear and get recreating!

The first time you rent ski or snowboard equipment from us we ask that you come in person to be properly fitted.  After that first time, we can capture the sizes in our computer and you can then call and reserve your gear at (801)-581-8516.

Rates effective 8/19/2016 and are subject to change.

Of course you can rent gear from us, we want to help everyone get outside. The prices listed on our equipment rental page is what you’ll pay.

Any current student or faculty/staff paying the Campus Recreation fee will receive a 25% discount to the listed prices.

For most things we only take reservations “week-of” the rental period. To be clear, we said “week-of” and NOT “week-before.” Call us the Monday prior to your adventure and we’ll get you hooked up with the gear you need.

The only exception to that rule is raft and bike rentals. Rafts and bikes can be reserved starting the last Monday of March for anytime during the season until November.

Thanks for owning up to your accident. That’s never any fun to have to own up to something you broke, especially when you don’t own it. And we hate having to be the bad guy, but you ARE responsible for any damaged or lost gear.

If you’re not able to get your equipment back to us on time call ahead and pay for the additional day. If you fail to get it to us on time you will be charged the additional day plus a late fee.

We have a set number of oar frames and dry boxes for our rafts. So we don’t rent out oar frame equipment separately. Sorry, but we need that gear for our raft packages.
Our trips are only open to current students, faculty, and staff at the University of Utah and their guest. Sorry, but rules are rules.
See the schedule for this semester's trips,
Call us at 801-581-8516 and pay the deposit with a credit card over the phone, or come to see us during our office hours within the Student Life Center.
Cooperative Adventure trips are planned and coordinated by Outdoor Adventures volunteer trip leaders. Trip costs are shared equally by all participants. All group planning, leadership and risks are shared by all participants equally.  Because Outdoor Adventures trips are exciting, physically demanding, and take place in an environment over which we have no control, they can be potentially dangerous. As a participant on a Cooperative Adventure Trip, you must personally accept these conditions and assume full responsibility for your own safety and well-being. Trip size is limited, and registration plus payment is on a first come, first served basis. A non-refundable deposit is required when you sign-up to secure a spot for you. Each multi-day trip has a pre-trip meeting, and your attendance is strongly recommended.

University of Utah policies prohibit alcohol, controlled substances, and firearms. These items are not permitted on any OA Adventure.

Participants are not required to have health insurance, but it is strongly encouraged.
