ISOLS 2018

The Intermountain Student Outdoor Leadership Seminar (ISOLS) is a conference created and run by students, for students. ISOLS mission is to bring together the inter-mountain region collegiate outdoor leaders and provide them with an environment that promotes networking and an exchange of knowledge between peers from outside their own university.

Those attending ISOLS should expect to hear multiple student-led presentations, engage in workshop presentations, full- and half-day field labs.

All students are encouraged to attend and invited to submit a Workshop, and Field Lab proposal.


History of ISOLS

The Intermountain Student Outdoor Leadership Seminar began in April 2003 when Brian Wilkinson returned from the Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education (AORE) conference and decided the intermountain schools should create something that was more relevant to the students. His goal was to create a conference for the students, by the students that kept costs manageable so all students could be provided learning opportunities. From there he created the first ISOLS conference, which was hosted at the University of Utah. In 2013, with the reinstatement of ISOLS after a brief hiatus, there were 55 participants from 8 intermountain-west schools. U of U Outdoor Adventures is stoked to welcome back the intermountain region for ISOLS 2018 to the University of Utah.

    • Meet conference hosts
    • Introduction to ISOLS and U of U campus
    • Mingle with peers

Friday, March 30

    • Bouldering competition registration
  • 9:00am – 12:00pm: Classroom Presentations
  • 12:00 – 1:30pm: Lunch (on your own)
    • Bouldering competition registration
  • 2:00 – 4:00pm: Classroom Presentations
