Class Descriptions
(Not every class listed is offered each semester.)
CYCLING
Cycling – Get on the bike and ride! The instructor will lead you through a series of hills, sprints, and flats, all while listening to amazing music!
CYCLEndure – A longer than usual cycling class that will boost your fitness through endurance riding. More time in the saddle = a more fit “U”.
CYCLExpress – 30 min. class. For those who are short on time but big on motivation this class is designed to challenge your legs and cardiovascular system in a quick ride!
Cycling & ABS – Take your cycling workout to a new level by topping off your ride with ab work at the end.
DANCE
Belly Dancing – Learn the essentials of Middle Eastern dance. Focus will be on movement with some choreography. Taught by Zahirah, who has two decades of experience.
Dance Fit – move for fun while burning calories. Each dance style is taught for 2 consecutive weeks. Week 1 covers the basic steps. Week 2 is a review of Week 1 and then builds some choreography. NO dance experience necessary…NO PARTNERS needed! All ages, conditions, and levels can join in the fun. (Dance styles may include Salsa, Hip Hop, Cha-cha, Broadway, Merengue, African, and Street Jazz.)
LatinJam®- Inspired by rumba aerobics and a fusion of different Latin rhythms – tropical, Caribbean, African, and modern – with a cardiovascular workout.
Hip Hop Hustle® – Easy to learn hip hop dance moves choreographed to high energy and motivating music.
Zumba® - A fusion of Latin music and easy to follow dance moves that create a dynamic total body workout. Routines feature interval sessions of fast and slow rhythms for a calorie burning, heart-racing, muscle-pumping, body-energizing, “fitness party”!
Zumba Toning® - Zumba Toning raises the bar by combining targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused Zumba moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training, dance fitness-party.
CARDIO/FITNESS
Body Pump® - Challenge all of your major muscle groups while you squat, press, lift and curl. Focusing on low weight loads and high repetition movements, you’ll burn fat, gain strength, and quickly achieve lean body muscle conditioning.
Body Works – Tone your body into a work of art by using a combination of weights, pilates, and cardio.
Butts & Guts – Safe, fun, and effective moves to strengthen and sculpt the abs, glutes, inner and outer thighs, and the lower back. (Class may be offered in a 50 or 30 min. format.)
Cardio Pump – Add variety to your workout with this intense combination of cardio and weights that is sure to make you sweat!
Combo Challenge – Cross training aerobics that uses a combination of floor and step for a workout filled with interest and variety.
Fat Burner – A low impact workout with light hand weights, bands, and/or balls. Easy to follow, intense, and effective.
R.I.P.P.E.D.® – Easy, yet effective, cardiovascular intervals interlaced with weights, resistance, and plyometrics.
Power Step – A circuit style class utilizing step aerobics combined with muscle toning to give you a total body workout.
Tight N’ Toned (TNT) - An explosive, total body program aimed at maximizing fat burning and increase lean muscle mass. This class offers maximum variety ensuring you will always push your limits!
Total Body Fitness – This total body workout includes cardiovascular, strength training, and stretching intervals to burn fat, tone muscles, and increase flexibility.
Turbo Kick® – Set to the hottest music around TK combines kickboxing and body-sculpting moves in a non-stop cardio workout to help you kick and punch your way to the next level of fitness.
Cardio HIIT – Experience High Intensity Interval Training that includes bouts of cardio, core, and body-weight exercises that will push you to your physical limits.
AQUA FITNESS
Aqua Zumba® – “Pool Party!” A challenging , water-based workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and exhilarating!
MIND/BODY
Ballet Barre – A fitness method combining ballet, pilates, and yoga for an ultimate toning, shaping, and calorie burning workout.
Ball Pilates – This class focuses on using the balance ball to get you working all the muscles which contribute to your core strength – your abs, deeper lower back muscles, and pelvic floor muscle.
Mat Pilates – A pilates based mat class combining core alignment, posture, and flexibility exercises to build strength and to improve flexibility, agility, body awareness and posture. Please bring a mat and towel. (Class is designed for ALL abilities unless listed as Int./Adv.)
PiYo® – A unique combination of Pilates, Yoga, strength conditioning, flexibility and dynamic balance. Learn movements that elongate muscles, strengthen the core, release tension, deepen breath and improve posture.
Yoga – A mix of yoga styles. Class may be offered in a 50 or 75 min. format. (Class is designed for ALL abilities unless listed as Int./Adv.)
Yogalates – A fun, challenging combination of yoga and pilates that increases strength, flexibility, and overall fitness.
Yoga/Flow – Increase your strength and flexibility by uniting body and breath. You’ll learn to move with absolute awareness as you flow from one posture to another. The practice becomes a meditation in motion.
Yoga/Hatha – Hatha yoga uses breathing, postures and relaxation for an excellent inner and outer workout designed for personal harmony and balance.
Yoga/Power – A physically challenging form of yoga to tone, sculpt, and improve flexibility and stamina. More of a power yoga.
Yoga/Restore – Drawing from several traditions of yoga you will practice poses that “flow” together to promote precision in alignment while increasing strength and flexibility.
Yoga For Stiff Bodies – A gentle approach for people with low levels of flexibility or little experience with yoga. Progression is at your own pace as you move into deeper stretches.
Yoga/Wake Up – Wake up with Yoga is a unique blend of yoga styles designed to awaken the mind, body, and spirit, preparing you for the day.
MUSCLE CONDITIONING
TRX® Suspension Training - Suspension training is a revolutionary method of leveraged body weight exercises. Safely perform hundreds of movements that build power, strength, flexibility, balance, mobility, and prevent injuries, all at the intensity you choose.
SPORT
Racquetball - Learn and practice the basics of racquetball in a group environment.
Swim Lessons/Adult – Beginner or intermediate lessons
Swim Lessons/Children – Beginner or intermediate lessons
Tennis I – Breakdown of fundamental tennis strokes. For the beginning player and those who need fundamental work.
Tennis II – Strong foundation of tennis strokes required. Emphasis will be on the game, strategy and drills. Must have previous training on the fundamentals.
