Recruitment and hiring procedures

Crimson Crew Member Positions
Climbing Specialists must display a strong work ethic, be dependable, motivated and have the ability to work independently and possess good teaching and communication skills. Must have the ability and skills to work with participants of all ages and abilities. They provide a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all users of the climbing wall.
Facility Managers coordinate and supervise all operational functions, programs, and personnel of the Eccles Student Life Center. They understand all the duties of the student staff positions and the mission of Campus Recreation Services. They understand all facility operations including partner/tenant users.
Core Fitness Center Attendant
The responsibility of the Fitness Center Attendant is to provide excellent service to Campus Recreation Services guests. Attendants are responsible for the supervision of the fitness areas to ensure that a safe and enjoyable environment is maintained.
Fitness Instructors provide group fitness instruction, monitor participants, educate on fitness and safety, and maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants. This position requires preparation and organization prior to class. Instructors must have strong communication skills including speaking in front of small to large groups. Instructors must be able to demonstrate proper timing, cueing, form, and transitions. Applicants must have a current certification or have gone through our in-house Fitness Instructor Training.
Gear Central Attendant
Gear Central is the equipment checkout desk at the Eccles Student Life Center. Excellent customer service from front line staff help to enhance the experience for Campus Recreation Services guests. Gear Central Attendants’ responsibilities include equipment rental, locker management, member uniforms, merchandise sales, and laundry operations.
Head Lifeguards supervise the lifeguard staff and daily operations of the pool areas. They are responsible for the supervision of all lifeguard staff during their shift and the pool area during recreational swimming hours and all other scheduled events in the pool area.
Intramural Sports Official
Intramural Sports Officials provide quality and decisive supervision of intramural activities. They facilitate a fun, safe and welcoming environment for participants. They assist the Intramural Sports Supervisor with the administration of the Intramural Sports Program.
Intramural Sports Supervisor
Intramural Sports Supervisors are leaders within the program and show a high level of commitment to its success. They have the authority to make decisions regarding the safety and wellbeing of all players and spectators. This position requires exceptional customer service skills. Supervisors must be able to handle highly emotional individuals and groups.
Lifeguards are responsible for the supervision of the pool area during recreational swimming hours and all other scheduled events in the pool. Lifeguards are responsible for opening and securing the pool facilities along with ensuring that a safe and enjoyable environment is maintained.
The Marketing Intern will assist full time staff with the implementation of all marketing related activities. Interns are expected to learn and use marketing skills and knowledge of campus to ensure optimal implementation and exposure of Campus Recreation Services programs.
Membership Services Associate
A Member Specialist is responsible for sales to members and guests involving memberships, locker rental and other programs and services offered at the Eccles Student Life Center. This position requires good decision making skills and the ability to work with little supervision. Individuals must be friendly and have an extensive working knowledge of Campus Recreation Services facilities and services.
Outdoor Adventures Attendant
Outdoor Adventures Attendants are responsible for the day to day operations including customer service, equipment rental, cash handling, trip registration, storage, repair and maintenance of equipment. Outdoor Adventures Attendants must be outgoing, friendly and enthusiastic about the outdoors. They must have good written and verbal communication skills, possess patience and provide excellent customer service.
Outdoor Adventures Specialist
Outdoor Adventures Specialist are responsible for the day to day operations including equipment rentals, trip registrations, cash handling, storage with special emphasis on equipment maintenance and repair. Outdoor Adventures Specialists must be outgoing, friendly and enthusiastic about the outdoors. They must have good written and verbal communication skills, possess patience and provide excellent customer service. They must also be experienced in the maintenance and repair of outdoor equipment.
Personal Trainers are responsible for the fitness assessment and personal training program with Campus Recreation Services. They help clients build exercise programs to meet their individual needs. Applicants must be currently certified in Personal Training.
The Equipment Repair Specialist is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all fitness equipment. Special attention will be given to regular maintenance checks and risk management procedures to ensure the equipment is in safe working order.
Special Events Manager
The Special Events Attendant has the responsibility for on-site supervision of events scheduled with Campus Recreation Services. Event Attendants must be outgoing, friendly and have good decision making skills. They must be able to work with little supervision and have an extensive knowledge of both University services and Campus Recreation Services policies and procedures.
