Lifeguard Training – FULL COURSE

($10 non-refundable if unable to pass prescreening skills test on the first night.)

This course teaches the duties and responsibilities of lifeguards to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies in a professional manner and includes certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), and Bloodborne Pathogens training.  Certification is valid for 2 years from the last day of the course.

Minimum age of 15 to register for the course.

The purpose of this update/re-certification course is to give currently certified individuals, or those with certifications that have expired in the last 12 months) the opportunity to update their skills to the newest American Red Cross Lifeguarding course content and to renew their renew their certification.  The American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED is valid for 2 years from the last day of the course.

Participants must provide a copy of current or expired (no more than 12 months) certification.  Applicants must correctly answer at least 80% of the questions in each of the four sections of the final written examination.

Minimum age of 15 to register for the course.

 

PRESCREENING SKILLS TEST

Must swim 300 yds. continuously using these strokes in the following order:  100 yds. front crawl, 100 yds. breaststroke, and 100 yds. of either front crawl or breaststroke or a combination of both.  All 300 yds. must use rhythmic breathing with your face in the water and a stabilizing, propellant kick.

Swim 20 yds. using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a minimum depth of 7 feet, retrieve a 10 lb. object, return to surface, swim back to starting point with the object.  When returning to the starting point, you must hold the 10 lb. object with both hands, keeping your face above the water.

Tread water for 2 minutes with hands under armpits.
